What we found out: At 11 am on 11-12-1918 an armistice came into effect ending the war in Western Europe. The Treaty of Versailles that formally ended the First World War was signed on 29 June 1919 and 19 July 1919 was declared Peace Day, the official day to celebrate the war‘s end throughout the British Empire.
