I have always made images of one sort or another.
Firstly as a kindergarten teacher, then as a theatre performer, teacher, and director,
images have been fundamental to my work and life.
I have always believed that humans have certain capacities that will save our lives.
We play, through which we discover and then, because we can’t help ourselves, we
create.
I have been blessed by this notion.
The Ducks in Onsies came about because I found 3 small bisk fired ducks in Lifeline.
I wondered if I could turn them into native birds. The Kookaburra, Budgie and
Crimson Rosella that emerged intrigued me enough to find more ducks. I am still
adding to the collection.
Placing the ducks in 2035 gives me the opportunity to reference our continuing
political complacency in the face of the escalating degradation of our natural
environments and loss of our irreplaceable biodiversity.
